SCSMC (Supreme Council of Sunni Muslims in Canada) was informed of the official announcement, subject to the global moon-sighting method, that the High Judiciary Council of the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madeenah has announced the sighting of the new moon, so we shall be completing twenty-nine (29) days of Ramadan (1438 A.H.), in accordance with the hadeeth of the Messenger of Allaah (sal-Allaahu `alayhi wa sallam): “…And break your fast when you see the crescent. If it is obscured to you then fast thirty days” [transmitted by al-Bukhaaree and Muslim].
Subsequently, we shall be celebrating ‘Eed al-Fitr on Sunday June 25th 2017.

الحمد لله وحده، والصلاة والسلام على نبينا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه، وبعد;
لقد أبلغ المجلس الأعلى للمسلمين السنة في كندا من طرف الهيئة الشرعية العليا للحرمين الشريفين بمكة و المدينة بخصوص مراقبة هلال شهر شوال, وبه يعلم رسميا بأن شهر رمضان سيستوفي 29 يوما لهذا العام 1438 بعد الهجرة النبوية، اتباعا لحديث نبينا صلى الله عليه و سلم كما رواه الشيخان :
(( و إذا رأيتموه فأفطروا . فإن غم عليكم فاقدروا له ))
لذلك سيكون عيد الفطر يوم الأحد 25 يونيو 2017
