Visits
Masjid Ar-Rahman mosque welcomes visits by youth or adult individuals/groups of visitors from a wide range of backgrounds, schools, various organizations etc. The mosque is open to visitors throughout the year. We receive a decent number of visitors from faith communities, schools, colleges and universities wishing to find out more about the workings of a mosque and the Islamic faith for projects and studies.
Modest Dress
- All adult visitors and children above the age of 12 are kindly requested to observe modest dress when visiting the mosque. Most aspects of a standard school uniform are quite appropriate as long as arms and legs are covered.
- Female visitors may cover their heads to show respect to other worshipers, the sanctity of the place, or to enrich their own experience.
Point to Note when meeting with Mosque representatives: Shaking hands is something normal in Islam, for Muslims and non-Muslims, but Islam prohibits non-essential touching and physical contact with a person of the opposite gender, with the exception of certain immediate family members, as a sign of modesty, humility and chastity. In addition, it is a form of respect towards the other person by acknowledging no one has the right to touch them except for their nearest and dearest. For this reason, you may meet Muslims who are more than happy to shake the hands of members of the opposite gender; however, the number of Muslims who refrain from doing so is significant, and an awareness of the issue is vital when interacting with Muslims, both formally and informally.
